American made revolutionary era horseman’s saber. Circa 1775-1783. Iron forged semi-basket hilt turned wood grip, 32” single fuller blade. Approx. 37-1/2” overall, blade measures 1-1/4” across the ricasso. The sword remains in original good condition showing a deep brown patina finish overall showing a light brown to moderate pitting overall, some light pitting showing 8” back from the tip. The grip shows a split and some wear and is only fair. Refer: G. C. Neumann’s Swords and Blades of the American Revolution for similar examples found in an Estate outside Beverly, Mass. With letter of appraisal and documentation from noted Eastern dealer Paul M. Ambrose who valued it at $2,000. Est: $750 - $1500
