American flintlock dueling/target pistol with saw-handled grip sighted B & J Cooper, New York, converted to percussion in American style. The pistol measures 15” overall with 9” barrel, approx. .60 caliber smoothbore, half stocked in walnut with engraved iron mounts and silver barrel key, escutcheons, and forend cap. The pistol shows a set trigger, engraved iron mounts, a gold band at the breech, and is signed both on barrel and lock. The style is slightly unusual with a rounded butt and saw handle. The metal surfaces show a brown patina with scattered light to moderate erosion and surface pitting and a slightly heavier pitting on the barrel and muzzle. The stock is good with normal wear, minor impressions, slight scratches, etc. The action is good, the conversion is well done and shows a lightly engraved American-style hammer. From the William R. Orbelo Collection. Est: $1,500 - $3,000
