American flintlock dueling pistol by Henry Deringer, Philadelphia. .54 caliber smoothbore, 11-3/8 medium to heavy weight octagon barrel 17-1/4" overall. Full stocked to muzzle in American walnut with some nice striping at wrist." The pistol shows a brass spurred guard and plain brass mountings with engraved pineapple finial at top of trigger guard. Both the lock and barrel are stamped H. Deringer" and the barrel is marked "Phila". The condition is fair to good the metal" surfaces show light to slightly heavy scattered pitting and erosion. The heavier pitting is at the breech and firing areas. The pistol is in its original flintlock configuration with period replaced frizzen and frizzen spring. The frizzen and spring are a period repair in our opinion. The stock is good with replacements of wood at the top front of forend on each side, extending back 3-1/2 from the muzzle by approx 1/4"otherwise wood is good with some light refreshing. The"
