American flintlock Kentucky style dueling pistol with similarities in style to a Harper’s Ferry model 1805 flintlock pistol. Lock marked H. W. Delavan & Co. Barrel stamped “O Badger”. The pistol measures approx. 17-1/4” overall with 11-1/4” octagon to round barrel and approx. .54 caliber rifled barrel. The barrel show striping and silver inlay of what may be birds in a wreath around front sight. Two inlays missing, the rest art darkened. The barrel shows a grey to brown patina finish with some light to moderate scattered erosion and surface pitting. The lock shows an even grey patina with traces of case hardening, and retains an original hammer and small parts. The stock shows checkering at a small area at the back of the wrist that does not extend to the sides, and the stock is inlaid with a silver buttcap that is floral engraved, also a large matching floral inlay between the triggerguard and thimble. The escutcheons around two lock screws are silver as is the escutcheon around the barrel key and there are two small silver inlays with matching florals on each side of the wrist and a small silver owner’s plaque just behind the tang.
