American flintlock Kentucky/Dueling pistol with English import lock by Sharp, barrel signed Philada (Philadelphia), circa approx. 1810-30. The pistol measures 16” overall, 9-7/8” barrel, of approx. .50 caliber rifled with 10” medium weight barrel, 16” overall. Plain walnut stock with brass mounts and simple American styling. The pistol remains in good condition showing a grey to brown patina finish, light to moderate pitting and erosion and some slightly heavier pitting around firing areas. The lock is original and retains its correct small parts. The stock shows some repair at the forend and some darkening in that area, otherwise is good. The mounts are plain other than the triggerguard shows some light engraving and pineapple type finial. There is a silver plaque inlaid at the wrist. There is some opening around the pinholes and some scratches in the original varnish, some small losses at the area of the lock behind the hammer and darkening extends backward about 4”. The rear portion of the wood is at least good. An original to the period wood ramrod is retained. An interesting pistol that could be described as a Kentucky or dueling pistol as it has elements of both styles. From the William R.
