American double barrel percussion rifle marked "H. F. Palmer, Adrian, Michigan", circa about 1850, with brass museum tag attached to belly of stock, numbered 767, formerly in Michigan Historical Societycollection. The rifle shows .36 cal. medium weight barrels that have been reduced to 22-1/8", 38-1/2" overall; showing back action locks and plain brass mounts with double triggers. The rifle shows and old re-bluedfinish with some pitting and erosion, stocks are good to very good with just normal wear. There is a brass patch box on the right side of stock. The rifle was reduced in size and would be perfect as a "buggy" gun. American double rifles are scarce and seldom encountered. The action is good, bore is good. Est.: $1,250-$2,500
