Rare Style American Revolutionary War Era Camp Stove
c. 1775 18th Century Revolutionary War Era, Hand-Forged & Cast Iron, Army Soldier’s Camp Stove, Very Fine.
This is an authentic, seldom seen, 10" wide x 7" high very heavy duty, 5 lbs 8 oz, Hand-forged and Cast Iron Revolutionary War soldier’s Camp Stove. It is portable in size, as a stove such as this would have been easily carried from encampment to encampment. In the construction of this stove, it is such that it utilized a bare minimum of fuel while being almost completely self-contained and somewhat wind resistant. Once a fire was going, a proper utensil (such as a three legged "spider" skillet) would have been placed directly over the flames to heat or cook various foods or liquids. There is some expected roughness to the metal from the original casting and from age, having a rich natural even overall patina and excellent eye appeal. A very rare design type. The internal bottom grate is cracked and reinforced with a fine wire, otherwise this American Revolutionary War Era Camp Stove is complete and in “Museum” quality condition.
