American Poet John Greenleaf Whittier Autograph Letter Signed "John G. Whittier". One page, 5" x 7.75", Amesbury, Massachusetts, 1855, with the usual fold creases, else a fine example. Whittier writes to an unknown newspaper editor in regards to submitting his poem "Flowers in Winter". The letter reads in part: "Dear Friend When you have a vacant corner in your paper will you print the little piece enclosed as corrected, from the N. Era! I wish to get a correct copy." The letter is sold with the poem mentioned by Whittier in his letter. The poem had been previously published in the National Era, a Washington D.C. newspaper apparently with mistakes. Whittier has hand-corrected two lines of the poem. The paper on which the poem was printed has toned slightly else it is in very good condition. A nice offering from a poet once as famous as Longfellow.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
