<B>American Poet and Essayist Oliver Wendell Holmes Autograph Letter Signed.</B></I> Signed "<I>O.W. Holmes,</B></I>" two pages, 4" x 6", Boston, October 9, 1867. Written to J.R. Lowell, this letter reads, "<I>My friend Mr. Kimball wishes to introduce to you the Rev. Newman Hall of Lauden, with whose faithful advocacy of our cause in the time of need, you much have heard of, and whose fame as an eloquent preacher and a hearty laborer in every good cause is in all the churches. Yours always…</B></I>" Wendell is of course referring to the temperance movement, a movement which all of these men were very involved in. Holmes is best known for his patriotic poems and essays. The ALS is in very fine condition; usual folds are present; signature is bold and dark.
