American Northwest Coast Native Indian “Trade” Beads
Group of Three (3), Northwest Coast Strung Indian Trade Beads, Choice Extremely Fine.
A superb quality historic collection from a serious collector of military and Indian artifacts. There are Three (3) Strands of Strung Indian Trade Beads, that were manufactured for trade, measuring from 7” to 8.5” long in length which were said to be found at the Dalles, near the Columbia River, in Oregon. The Dalles is a series of waterfalls and was historically called The Dalles, which is located near the city of the same name. It was a major trading center for dealing with the Native American tribes of the Northwest coast going back to the early 1800s. These stands of beads appear to have been recently restrung on modern monofilament for preservation. These beads were probably traded to the Native Indian tribes of the region by French Canadian or American fur traders. These three sets of beads are nicely displayed in a 4.5" x 5.5" clear glass front Ryker box. (3 items).
