American Kentucky-style flintlock pistol converted to percussion, marked “S. Pratley, Norfolk” and “Calderwood, Philadelphia” on barrel. The pistol measures 15-1/4” overall, with 9” medium to slightly heavy octagon barrel of approx. .52 caliber smoothbore. Full stocked to the muzzle and nicely striped walnut with checkered forend and wrist and coin silver engraved mounts. The metal surfaces are a dark brown patina with light to moderate scattered erosion and pinprick pitting. The front sight shows darkened silver inlays around the front sight which is a classic American motif. The escutcheon around rear lockplate screw is nicely engraved with arrows. The buttcap and triggerguard are lightly engraved and the triggerguard shows a pineapple finial. The ramrod pipes are silver and show dents. The lock is nicely converted to percussion with engraved hammer and bolster. The breech and hammer shows some pitting, the metal surfaces are generally good and very dark, the stock shows some breaks and losses in the forend near the muzzle and some cracks with losses of wood on the bottom side of the lock. The balance of the stock is good and would restore nicely. A high quality silver
