NVSN, .48 caliber, 35" octagon barrel, “J. Henry & Son” marked clearly on barrel, double stamped. Set trigger. Behind the brass trigger guard “U.S.” is clearly stamped in the walnut stock. Condition: Dovetail cut in wrist, other repairs around top tang. Rear sight missing. Bore is just good, barrel is mottled plum brown to silver, lock and trigger guard show dark smooth patina, brass is soft gold, wood is solid.

J. Henry & Son produced various styles of rifles from Boulton, PA. Many were produced for the western fur trade and as goods to satisfy treaties such as the Ft Laramie treaty of 1868. Not commonly found in large calibers.
