No. 62 for 200 shares to O. S. Griffith. Signed by W.A. Madison as secretary and S Ostrom as president. Dated Nov 12, 1890. A showy example of a larger style certificate for an important and famous, long term producing mining region. American Fork was first settled by Mormon pioneers in 1850. Silver-lead mines were in production by the 1870s. This company was formed in 1890 by S. Osborn of Chicago, who ran the mines. They bought the Wild Dutchman in 1891 and erected a large concentrator. By January of 1892, they had shipped 71,000 pounds of concentrate to the smelter in Salt Lake City. Something happened at the end of 1892 or the beginning of 1893, and Osborn was out, and brought suit against the company. It appears to not have operated after that date under the American Fork Consolidated name. Herzog Colelction. Utah United States of America
