This impressive mahogany chest of drawers in the American Federal or English Regency style dates from the early to mid 19th century. Measures 46" wide by 46.75" high by 20.15" deep. Drawer fronts feature fruitwood string inlay and oval brass pulls which are old but not original to the piece. Drawer dovetails are hand-made. Drawer fronts are cockbeaded with cockbeading rebated into the sides bottom and top. Based on single original holes we suspect the piece originally featured knob or round ring pulls. Original keyholes are intact but the locks have been replaced sometime in the past 50 years. No keys and the working condition of the locks is unknown. Top features cross-banding inlay along the border. There are a couple cracks running across the top. Shaped bracket feet.
