Four letters from great American authors Sherwood Anderson, John Dos Passos, James M. Cain, and Edgar Lee Masters: ALS signed “Sherwood Anderson,” one page, 7.75 x 10, no date, in part: “I’ve a cold that has completely floored me and I feel more like going to a hospital than anything else”; ALS signed “John Dos Passos,” one page, 8.5 x 11, May 4, 1958, in part: “The trouble is that I’m trying to cut down on lectures. I find them very time consuming”; TLS signed “James M. Cain,” one page, 8.5 x 11, stamped personal letterhead, February 10, 1963, in part: “Reading the monumental life of Jefferson by Nathan Schachner I opened Who’s Who in America to see who he was, and didn’t find him. This is just a note to suggest his inclusion”; and a TLS signed in pencil, “E. L. Masters,” one page, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead, November 12, 1938, in part: “I lectured in Cleveland once to a very fine audience. It was some woman’s club the name of which I could dig up if I had to.” In overall very good to fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope for Cain’s letter.
