American writer (1842–c.1914) best known for his vivid short stories (including the classic 'An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge') and his satirical 'The Devil's Dictionary.' In 1913, while traveling with Pancho Villa's troops during the Mexican Revolution, Bierce disappeared; his ultimate fate remains a mystery. ALS, two pages on two adjoining sheets, 5 x 7.75, no date. Written from the Olympia in Washington, D.C., a letter to Dr. Reagles, in full: "I fear that by inadvertence I left you a wrong card last evening—one with a former address instead of my present one. I am glad to know that you are still extant; I've often wondered what had become of you. Please do not leave town without letting me see you—if you are going to leave town at all. I am usually at home of an afternoon and evening." In fine condition.
