Handwritten musical manuscript in pencil by Ambroise Thomas, unsigned, one page both sides, 9.5 x 9.25, no date. A fragment of the original manuscript for Thomas's opera Hamlet. Thomas writes several lines of music and lyrics from the first entrance of Hamlet in Act II. Impressively mounted, matted, and framed to an overall size of 21 x 22.5, with a window in the backing for viewing the reverse. Also displayed on the reverse is a stagebill for the Lyric Opera of Chicago's performance of the opera in 1990, signed by Sherrill Milnes. In very good condition, with scattered light foxing, edge tears, and paper loss to the edges, primarily to the top.
