Amazing Vintage Aeroplane Photograph Album. An historically important album containing 48 detailed 7” x 5” early aviation photographs with the studio mark of “M. Rol & Cie. Paris” on the reverse of each image. The images are mounted by corner slits into a 10.25” x 7.25” album with red cloth covers and gilt titles. This mounting type facilitates easy removal of the images from the album for inspection or reproduction. The album opens with a shot of J.T.C. Moore-Brabazon, the first person to qualify as a pilot in the U.K., in the cockpit of his aeroplane; Octave Chanute strapped to a glider and about to leap off a hill; Santos-Dumont's first aeroplane; a 1908 photograph of an early air show; priests blessing a mono-wing aeroplane; a photograph of the first manned flight from water; a photograph of a Voisin “Canard”, the first successful amphibious aeroplane; and other wonderful photographs of aeroplanes, crashes, etc. This is a wonderful archive from the earliest days of winged flight. All images are in near fine condition.

Shipping: Books & Catalogs (view shipping information)
