Overstreet refers to this comic as "scarce"; Gerber lists it as "rare", with an estimated 11-20 copies in existence. Add to that the fact that this is the fabled Edgar Church copy, one of the earlier comics Mr. Church purchased second-hand (there is a penciled "7ó" on the cover). All Centaur books are tough to find, but this is the one to have above all others, with the first Fantom of the Fair story featuring art by Bill Everett, Carl Burgos, and Paul Gustavson. This copy looks really sharp; the top corner of the spine is a little rounded, but overall a solid item with great color. CGC notes, "Restoration includes: color touch, spine splits sealed, cleaned, reinforced." Overstreet 2003 FN 6.0 value = $1,008; VF 8.0 value = $2,100. <B>Estimate: $4,500-up</B> </FONT></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><BR><!--<a name="PricesRealized"></a> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" bgcolor="#000000"> <tr> <td width="100%"> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="3"> <tr> <td width="100%" bgcolor="#79735C"> <a name="PR"> <font face="arial" size="3" color="#FFFFFF"> <b>Previous Prices from Heritage Auctions</b> </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#F6F6ED"> No Prior Data Recorded </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> <font face="arial" size="1""> PLEASE NOTE: All prices realized reflect the final hammer price PLUS the buyer's premium in auctions that charge a buyer's premium. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment.
