Alvar Aalto Model 63 convertible sofa Heteka Oy or Wohnbedarf AG Finland/Switzerland, c. 1933 enameled steel, upholstery, birch 79.5"w x 29"d x 24.5"h Rare and early design by Aalto illustrates his influence from Marcel Breuer and tubular steel furniture being developed at the Bauhaus. Ironically, Breuer developed his Isokon furniture based on the designs of Aalto. The Convertible sofa by Aalto folds flat to become a bed and this noteworthy design was first shown at the "Minimal Apartment Exhibition" in Helsinki in 1930. All absentee bids are confidential and will be executed competitively.
You may call or fax in absentee bids prior to the day of the sale. All

Phone bids may be arranged by calling the gallery prior to the
day of the sale. There are a limited number of phones lines so we encourage you to arrange phone bids early. All lots must be estimated over $500 to be on the phone.
