Extremely rare Kongberg 1863 dateline. Incorporated in June of 1863. # 28 for 20 shares to Frank Cooper. Signed by OS Brown and president Ole Christenson (SIlver Mountain was noted for their large Scandinavian population - rare in western mining camp). Loomis vignette of miner at winch. Printed by Towne & Bacon. Not cancelled. Location Amador County, Cal. 25c Certificate Revenue stamp. Nicks at bottom edge and small discoloration at upper right fold. Red Silver Mountain underprint! The Alta was formed to work the Pennsylvania Ledge, in June 1863, with office at Silver Mountain (also known as Kongsberg). Frank Cooper was one of the original Commissioners charged with designating the election precincts in newly-formed Alpine Co. (1864 "Alpine County Bill").
