Austrian-born banker, philanthropist, race horse owner, art collector, and member of the prominent Rothschild family of financiers and businessmen (1827–1905). Two undated ALS in French, signed “A. de Rothschild,” each on art-related matters. Accompanied by an LS in another hand signed “H. Rothschild & Co.” and two printed death notices, one for Alphonse de Rothschild, the other for Emmanuel Leonino (a Rothschild in-law). Intersecting folds, and mild scattered soiling and handling wear, otherwise fine condition.
