Allin conversion of Springfield percussion musket to .50-70 cartridge in fine to near excellent original condition. The bright metal surfaces show their original finish with just some minor dried oil and nocleaning in modern times. The lock plate and hammer show all of their original case hardening dulling just very slightly. The breech block and release lever show quenched original arsenal blue color as does the rearsight and almost all is retained. The 1866 and Springfield Eagle are sharp and well defined on the breech block. The stock is crisp and near excellent with only couple minor marks along the cleaning Rod channeland some minimal storage and handling with a razor-sharp cartouche that is fully visible on the left side of the stock. The interior is excellent to near mint and shows no evidence of firing or use. A strong 9.8 on 1to 10 scale and we’ve only seen two better in 40+ years (Not even John Peck the dean of trapdoor collectors had a better example). Est.: $2,000-$4,000.
