Produced between 1858 and 1865 with approximately 1,500 manufactured. Marked "ALLEN & WHEELOCK. WORCESTER. MS. U.S. / ALLEN'S PAT'S. SEPT. 7. NOV. 9. 1858." on the left side barrel flat. The front sight is a brass cone and the rear is a v-notch in the top of the frame. The cylinder is 7/10" long, for the short rimfire cartridge, with the cylinder stops are at the front edge and roll engraved scenes of arms and western action. Checkered hammer and smooth spur trigger, with smooth walnut square butt grips. With a black leatherette case, featuring a blank inscription panel on the lid, red velvet lid lining, blue velvet compartment lining and a wood ejector rod.

Condition: Very good, with 70% of the period niter blue finish on the barrel, with bright gray patina on the edges and patches of brown patina, 85% of the niter blue on the hammer, and 80% of the royal blue on the cylinder. The frame retains 75% original silver, with some bubbling, flaking, and exposed brass. Grips are very good, with dings and fine grain. Case is good, with mild wear on the lining. Mechanically fine. The case is fine and appears to have old lining, but is different as the lid is maroon and the box is blue.
