Allen & Thurber Dragoon size percussion pepperbox pistol, .36 cal., 6” barrels, light grey finish, engraved frame and nipple shield, bag shaped wood grips, finger rest trigger #169. This gun is in overall good condition showing an old cleaning ofmetal surfaces that is beginning to return to patina; some scattered areas of light pin prick pitting with some heavier spots on the muzzle end of the barrels, the action is functioning but when bar hammer down, barrels rotate somewhat freely; dark bores, overall good grips with some scattered small mars and worn carved initials “A.R.” on the top of the left grip. These Dragoon sized pepperboxes are hard to find and were popular in the gold fields of the West during thelate 1840’s-1850’s. Est.: $700-$1,400.
