ALS signed “Allen,” one page both sides of a self-contained air mail letter, 7.5 x 10.5, November 8, 1983. Letter to his friend and translator Istvan Eörsi in Berlin, concerning his upcoming plans. In part: “Robert Creeley is now in Berlin…I gave him your old address & your phone number…Maybe you can contact him before you leave. Had you translated anything of his?…Did you or do you visit East Berlin?—We met one young poet Sascha Anderson and his friends there. Walter Hoellerer of Akzente magazine has their addresses…I’m working on Collected Poems, and assembling prose & interviews & Journals for various books—so will be based in N. Y. the next few years…I’m writing among other things, haikus. (1) In the half light of dawn/a few birds warble/under the Pleiades. (2) At 4 A.M. the two middle-aged men/sleeping together/hold hands.” Ginsberg has hand-addressed the letter as well, with a partial signature in the return address area from the Naropa Institute. In fine condition, with rough edges from opening, expected folds, and a bit of light soiling.
