The lot features an original Allan Houser signed print 1993 show “A Life in Art” poster, original Allan Houser program that has been signed on the cover and an advertising post card with “Mothers Blessing” on the front. Allan Capron Houser (1914 – 1994) was a Chiricahua Apache sculptor, painter and book illustrator born in Oklahoma. He was one of the most renowned Native American painters and Modernist sculptors of the 20th century. Houser's work can be found at the Smithsonian Museum of American Art, the National Museum of the American Indian, the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C., and in numerous major museum collections throughout North America, Europe and Japan. Additionally, Houser's Offering of the Sacred Pipe is on display at United States Mission to the United Nations in New York City. his collection consists of items from his 1993 show "A Life In Art". First is a program that has been signed on the cover in black marker. The program measures 9" x 8" and has 32 pages. Next is a advertising post card that measures 10" x 6" and has his famous sculpture "Mothers Blessing". The last item in the collection is a poster showing "Mountain Echoes" for the A Life In Art showing at the Museum of New Mexico. The poster is signed "10-16-93 Regards Allan Houser". The poster measures 24" x 18" with some wear.
