(20th Century Fox, 1979) This hat was acquired by the production and customized for use by Harry Dean Stanton as "Brett". The baseball style hat features unique distressing for use in Brett's "Death Scene". A section above the brim has been removed and distressed and was covered with what is believed to be a printed paper version of the "Nostromo" patch. This paper version of the patch was used, as it would easily collapse into the hat for the insert shot of the "Alien" inner jaw biting through the hat. This hat is similar to the one seen in the final cut of the film, but was a backup piece, and the production patch was received with it. In addition, the leaf-shaped embellishments (also known as "scrambled eggs") on the visor are slightly different.

As seen in the movie, this style patch was used by all the actors on various articles of clothing during filming. However, there were two styles of this patch - the more common with a grey background behind the lettering, and the other with dark blue background behind the lettering. In most scenes throughout the movie, Brett's hat has the grey background. As seen in Brett's death scene, the patch has the dark blue background similar to this patch.
