Alien (1979) - Original Alien Egg.

Original "Alien Egg" used in the Ridley Scott directed survival science fiction horror film 'Alien' (1979), which follows the crew of the commercial space tug Nostromo, who encounter the eponymous Alien, an aggressive and deadly extraterrestrial set loose on the ship.

The egg is made of solid foam with rubber silicon outside, and measures approximately 21: tall. Some cracking from age but very solid and holds it's form well.

Autographed by Brian Johnson special effects supervisor on the 1979 film Alien and the 1986 film Aliens. Other notable films Johnson has worked on include 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), Revenge of the Pink Panther (1970), Dragonslayer (1980), Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980), The NeverEnding Story (1984) and DragonHeart (1996).
For his work on Alien, Johnson won an Academy Award for Visual Effects (shared with H. R. Giger, Carlo Rambaldi, Nick Allder and Dennis Ayling). In addition to this, he has won a Special Achievement Academy Award (for Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, shared with Richard Edlund), a BATFA and a Saturn Award, and has been nominated for a further Academy Award (Best Visual Effects for Dragonslayer)

The film stars Tom Skerritt, Sigourney Weaver, Veronica Cartwright, Harry Dean Stanton, John Hurt, Ian Holm, and Yaphet Kotto.

The Alien and its accompanying artifacts were designed by the Swiss artist H. R. Giger,

The Ovomorph, known colloquially as the Egg, is an egg-like capsule containing a Facehugger, generally considered to be the first stage in the life cycle of the species Xenomorph XX121. They are produced and laid by a Queen but can also be produced by the inducement of a process of metamorphosis on a captured victim which then changes into a viable ovomorph.

On an interesting note the blue laser lights that were used in the alien ship's egg chamber were borrowed from The Who. The band was testing out the lasers for their stage show in the soundstage next door.
