ALS, one page, both sides, 5 x 7.75, July 14, 1958. Letter to a woman reads, in part, “It was gracious of you to write to me. I found your letter most thoughtful and your views were, I need hardly add, most congenial to me…I read the reviews of Froman and Mills (both of whom I admire) with interest…I shall look forward to seeing your piece. As I do not see the New Republic regularly I would be most grateful if you would let me know the issue in which it appears.” And a 1957 first edition hardcover copy of In the Court of Public Opinion. Autographic condition: very good, with toning and creasing to letter. Book condition: VG-/None. Navy cloth-covered boards; light soiling and foxing to exterior (some light spotting on interior); spine sunned; discoloration to feps; previous owner’s name in ink on ffep. Accompanied by an unsigned carbon from the woman to Victor, requesting to borrow a copy of Hiss’s book.
