Distinguished British poet (1809–1892) who was one of the most highly regarded and influential literary figures of the Victorian era. Pensive 2.5 x 4 carte-de-visite portrait by Mayall of Brighton, signed in ink beneath the image, “A. Tennyson.” Light scattered surface marks, faint silvering, and mounting remnants on the reverse, otherwise fine condition. Tennyson is very scarce in signed photographs.
