The present vintage silver gelatin print depicts the Italian actress Sophia Loren with flowers on the gangway of her Air France plane that has just arrived at the Vienna airport. The photographer captured her smiling and with waving gestures.



The photograph shows a tiny pin hole in each corner, due to old mountings. There are a number of tiny dust particles as well as two small skips slightly visible in the dark area of the sky; it has to be assumed that these result from the negative and the developing process. Besides, there is a small scratch located on the suit of the actress. The image size is equal to the sheet size of 30.5 x 40.7 cm.



Alfred Kucera

The Austrian photographer Alfred Kucera worked for the airport photo service in Vienna in the 1960s. In this role he produced an impressive collection of photographs depicting celebrities, politicians, Hollywood stars and musicians at their arrival or departure from the airport. Kucera’s works provide an authentic overview of the spirit of the time. (cbo)
