The present vintage silver gelatin print depicts the great conductor Herbert von Karajan sitting in the jumpseat of the cockpit of an airliner. The picture was taken at the airport in Vienna.



There are a number of slightly yellowish areas in the surface of the photograph; these, however, may not be classified as a damage. Besides, the photograph affects some silver mirroring due to its age. The image size is equal to the sheet size of 40.7 x 30.5 cm.



Alfred Kucera

The Austrian photographer Alfred Kucera worked for the airport photo service in Vienna in the 1960s. In this role he produced an impressive collection of photographs depicting celebrities, politicians, Hollywood stars and musicians at their arrival or departure from the airport. Kucera’s works provide an authentic overview of the spirit of the time. (cbo)
