American politician (1873–1944) who served as Governor of New York and who was the unsuccessful Democratic presidential candidate in 1928. Vintage sepia matte-finish 8 x 11 portrait of Smith, signed and inscribed in the lower border in fountain pen, “To Louis Wilson, with affectionate regard of Alfred E. Smith.” Affixed to a same-size mount. Creases to the lower left corner tip, mild overall toning, surface ding to the right border, and silvering to dark areas of the image, otherwise fine condition.
