Carl ''Alfalfa'' Switzer, of ''Our Gang'' renown, autograph letter signed ''Alfie'', on ''Club Del Mar'' stationery. Postmarked 18 December 1953, from Los Angeles, California. Letter, in pencil, discusses a bizarre dispute over a longstanding debt involving a dog. Reads in part: ''Dear Gus & Marg, I just received your letter today. Send it to Joes from now on, because its a week before I ever receive it. Well after we left your place, Dorget drove and talked to George Short. I just met Short didn't have over a few words to say, and Dorget and him talked for at least 30 minutes, Ronnie and myself stayed in the car, I don't know what they talked about. And then we wanted to talk to your boss, because he knows him. He has a ranch wright [sic] next door to his. But he wasn't at home. He just left before we got their. [sic] But his wife was home, Dorget explained that he wanted to do what was wright [sic]. He said he offered your old Dog back and what money you were out. But you would not settle for less than his Dog...She said she didn't know much about the dog or about what the deal was...'' Signed ''Your Pal Alfie''. One page letter, front and verso, measures 7.25'' x 10.5'', with folds from mailing. Also includes original envelope, with a terrific ''Alfalfa Switzer / Professional Bear Hunter'' return address. (Switzer supplemented his adult acting career as a hunting guide.) Near fine.
