<B>Alf Landon 1936 Presidential Campaign Banner.</B></I> A unique item from Alfred M. Landon's unsuccessful run for president against Franklin D. Roosevelt. The banner measures 100" x 36", is constructed of cotton with 2" gold cotton fringe running along the bottom and features a screened portrait of Landon surrounded by flags and sunflowers, the state flower of Landon's home state of Kansas. On either side of the central image are the ubiquitous stars and stripes. The general arrangement of the grommets suggests that this may have been a podium banner. The banner is in excellent condition with some stress tears around a couple of the metal suspension grommets.
