Alexander Trotter, Jedburgh, (fl. 1788-1815) A GEORGE III 8-DAY OAK-CASED LONG-CASE CLOCK, having a swan-neck pediment with cast-brass flowerhead terminals, the arched glazed door flanked by turned columns with Corinthian-style brass capitals, the trunk having a shaped arched door between fluted quadrants, on a plain base with bracket feet, the hour- striking movement having an arched white-painted dial, Roman hours and Arabic minutes framing subsidiary seconds and date dials and inscribed makers name, the arch having a painted oval portrait of a seated lady holding a bird, above flower-decorated spandrels, with gilt enrichment, 220cm, (86.5in) high (sold Est. £1500/1800
