The present picture was taken by the German photographer Alexander Timtschenko and shows a camera installed in front of a mirror of an exuberant location of a castle’s architecture such as known from King Ludwig II of Bavaria. As seen here, the artist always creates complex systems of references, which often provide an immanent ironic meaning. Regarding the museum-quality presentation of the work, caused by the oversized format and the professional framing, the offered piece is a characteristic example of Timtschenko’s impressive artistic output.



The Ilfochrome print is verso numbered with pen ‘L30842 (005441)‘ and ‘035‘. The sheet is verso mounted at two points into a mat and it is additionally supported by photo corners. The image size is 51.5 x 104 cm and the sheet size amounts to 54.5 x 108 cm. The dimensions of the framed work are 82 x 132.8 cm.



Alexander Timtschenko (b. 1965)

The photographer Alexander Timtschenko was born in Starnberg and focuses on rather profane motifs which he catapults on an artistic level through the choice of detail, the lighting and the perspective. In 1995, Timtschenko was awarded the ‘Bayerische Staatsförderpreis’, which was followed by an USA scholarship established by the Bavarian government. Since the early 1990s, Alexander Timtschenko presents his work internationally, including the Lenbachhaus and the Haus der Kunst in Munich, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago and the Museum of Modern Art in Moscow.
