Beautiful and impressive! This Greek coin (Thrace) is a silver tetradrachm of approximately 28MM, made between 286-281 BC by one of Alexander the Great's successors, Lysimachos. The obverse, facing forward, depicts the head of the deified Alexander the Great, wearing the horn of Ammon (considered to be the most accurate depiction of Alexander's actual features)in beautiful high relief. The reverse shows a seated Athena Nikephoros. The coin is set in a modern 14K mounting. Its overall diameter in the mounting is 30MM in width and 40MM in height(including the bail) and is almost 5MM in depth. Includes a nice large but lightweight 24" chain. The whole piece weighs 38.3 grams, a large striking piece. Comes accompanied by a certificat of authenticity signed by David R. Sear, Professional Numismatist and author of Greek Coins and Their Values.
