Union general (1835–1911) who received the Medal of Honor for leading the Philadelphia Brigade in the face of Pickett’s Charge at Gettysburg. After the war he spent 33 years as president of City College of New York. Original 2.25 x 4 carte-de-visite photo by Fredricks and Co. of New York, signed below the image in black ink, “Alex. S. Webb, Bvt. Maj. Genl.” A few scattered light creases and surface marks and a small ding to bottom edge of image, otherwise fine condition.
