Amazing hand-typed “Curriculum Vitae” from 24-year-old fashion designer Alexander McQueen, two pages, 8.25 x 11.75, no date but circa 1992/1993. The CV contains sections for “Personal Details,” “Education,” and “Employment.” In the “Personal Details” section, McQueen lists his full name, “Lee Alexander McQueen,” address, gender, age, and the year he was born, “1968,” which, interestingly, falls a year shy from his actual birthdate of March 17, 1969. In “Education,” McQueen lists his secondary school, “Rokeby School for Boys,” and college, “Saint Martins School of Art,” as well as various qualifications: “Master of Arts Degree: Fashion Design” and “Four years in Londons Savile Row as a Tailoring apprentice.” Under “Personal Interest,” he adds: “I collect new and antiquarian Photoghraphy books and I also like Cult and Avante Garde cinema from the 60’s and late 70’s.”

McQueen proceeds to list the five different companies he apprenticed with between the years 1984 and 1990, which includes: “Romeo Gigli…Feb 90–Nov 90,” “Koji Tatsuno Ltd…Nov 89–Feb 90,” “Bermans & Nathans…Oct 88–Oct 89,” “Gieves and Hawkes…Jul 87–Oct 88,” and “Anderson and Sheppard Ltd…Sep 84–Jun 87.” Under the “Job Criteria” for the latter position, McQueen writes: “At this prestigous establishment I learnt the fundamentals of Bespoke Tailoring. A three year apprenticeship, which [h]as been the bases for my present Design thinking. The company has a world wide reputation for the softest jackets in the world and includes HRH Prince of Wales and Calvin Kline as there customers for whom I have had the pleasure of making for.” In fine condition.
