Alexander Henry Single Shot Falling Block Sporting Rifle, #4030, .450-3-1/4 BPE cal., 28'' blue barrel marked ''Alex R. Henry, Edinburgh and London, Patent No. 3106''; nicely case colored Victorian banknote engraved frame, side hammer, and backlock; coarsely checkered pistol-grip on Mediterranean walnut stock, with two-leaf Express sight with platina bands and platinum bead front sight. Alexander Henry (1818-1894) was a Scottish gunsmith based in Edinburgh, famous for his contribution and patents in the Martini-Henry system of firearms. Includes one box of pre-war Remington-UMC ammunition and three-piece die set with shell holder. Condition is excellent. Barrel has thinned and toned to approx. 92%; case colors have darkened. Stock remains mostly crisp with an additional coat of linseed oil. Action and bore are good. Est.: $8,000-$12,000. (Antique)
