United States District Judge from Georgia (1756–1821) who served as a second to Alexander Hamilton in Hamilton’s duel with Aaron Burr. ALS signed “Nath'l Pendleton,” one page both sides, 7.5 x 12.75, January 14, 1805. Letter to botanist Amos Eaton, concerning a financial dispute over farm land, in part: "The primary object in the beginning was Security. The additional farm was to have been of greater value but I accepted it. I can by no means agree to lessen my security. I do not know what you mean by my taking you in. I was informed by a gentleman you said you expected to make $30000 by the bargain." In fine condition, with some small holes to the right side.
