"WINNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS BY THE AUCTIONEER ONCE ALL BIDS HAVE BEEN PROCESSED TO DETERMINE THE WINNER FOR EACH LOT."
Letter signed by the first Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton, the founding father of the United State's banking and financial systems. Dated 24 September 1790 from the Treasury Department, Hamilton writes to Pierpont Edwards, U.S. Attorney for the state of Connecticut and the uncle of the man who would fatally shoot Hamilton. Letter reads in full, ''Thank you for your information concerning the Sureties offered by the Commissioner of Loans for your State - As the subscriptions on Mr. Imlay's Office will be of considerable magnitude it will be prudent that all the three Gentlemen join in the Bond with him of which I shall inform him. I am Sir very respectfully, Your Obedient Servant / Alexander Hamilton.'' Hamilton writes the recipient's information at bottom, ''Pierpoint [sic] Edwards Esq. / Attorney of the United States - Hartford.'' Also written at the bottom in small 19th century calligraphic ink, ''Secry Treasy 1789, Genl during War & Aid to Washington, Signer of Constitution-U.S. Shot by Burr 1804.'' Document measures 8'' x 10''. In good condition with toning and foxing, and ragged, chipped edges, not affecting writing. Hamilton's signature is quite dark and clear and bears a nice flourish. Beautifully framed in black and gold with a print of Hamilton's portrait and plaque. Overall presentation measures 22.25'' x 18''.
