Well-regarded Russian composer (1865-1936) best known for his lush orchestral works, including nine symphonies and concerti for various instruments. ALS in Russian, signed "A. Glazunov," one page both sides, 8 x 10.5, September 30, 1933. Handwritten letter summarizing his life's work for Soviet musical expert George Palovitch, in part (translated): "With my declining years approaching, my health problems, unfortunately, are becoming more frequent…I'd better take care of business. As I mentioned to you earlier, I don't have all necessary copies of my latest compositions and therefore, years of work have to be restored by memory…The second piano concerto was conceived in the '90s and completed in about 1917. Opus 101 was composed approximately in the summer of 1926, Opus 104 was produced in about 1920 and soon was performed with two pianos by L. V. Nikolayev and me. The composition was created under the impression of the sickness and death of Vera Iv. Skriabina who you know and who lived in our house, and was dedicated to her." In fine condition. Accompanied by a typed English translation.
