Uncommon unsigned book: Anecdotes of the American Revolution: Illustrative of the Talents and Virtues of the Heroes and Patriots, Who Acted the Most Conspicuous Parts Therein (Second Series) by Alexander Garden. Charleston, SC: printed for the author by A. E. Miller, 1828. Hardcover bound in a half-calf binding with marbled boards, 4.5 x 7.25, 240 pages. Book condition: VG-/None, with rubbing to boards and corners, and the bookplate of Joel Davis Madden, Jr., affixed to front pastedown.

The author, Alexander Garden, joined the Continental Army in 1780 and served as a cornet in Lee's Legion under 'Light Horse Harry' Lee. In 1781 he was promoted to major and served for the remainder of the war as an aide-de-camp to General Nathanael Greene. Among his subject in this volume are Francis Marion, Nathanael Greene, George Washington, William Moultrie, Henry Lee, and Charles Coatesworh Pinckney.
