Trackage agreement between the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Rail Road Company and the Pennsylvania Rail Road Company, allowing use of the "Rail Road…known as the 'Lackawanna and Bloomsburg Division' from any and all points between Pittston in the County of Luzerne and State of Pennsylvania and Northumberland in the County of Northumberland in the same state." Signed at the conclusion by Samuel Sloan as president of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Rail Road Company, and by Alexander J. Cassatt for the Pennsylvania Rail Road Company. Includes a related document from 1873, signed by Samuel Sloan and J. Edgar Thompson, as well as the original envelope and a letter regarding the agreement. In fine condition.

Samuel Sloan (1817-1907) is remembered for his 32-year tenure as the president of the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad. John Edgar Thomson (1808-1874) was a civil engineer, industrialist, and entrepreneur who led the Pennsylvania Railroad from 1852 until his death, developing it into one of the largest business enterprises in America and a world-class model for technological and managerial innovation.
