Innovative American sculptor (1898–1976) best known for devising the mobile, the form with which he was most closely associated. Three items: Handwritten reply, in French (untranslated) to a request by a publisher seeking permission to publish a Calder lithograph in a 1970 book. A vertical mailing fold passing through his handwriting, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by an envelope addressed in blue ballpoint by the artist with his handwritten address on the reverse: “Calder, Sache 37, France.” Also included is a 1975 Perls Galleries program of Calder’s work, initialed “AC.”
