First edition, first printing of ''Alcoholics Anonymous'' hardcover book, signed and inscribed by AA co-founder Bill Wilson on the front free endpaper. Works Publishing Inc: New York: 1939. Wilson inscribes this copy in blue ink, ''To Fred - This in grateful memory of your friendship and of the old days! Affectionately / Bill / NY / Feb/20/51 [or 57]''. In original publisher's red cloth boards with titles in gilt lettering. Housed in a complementing red cloth clamshell case with black leather labels titled in gilt. Book has some wear to boards, with a circular dampstain on spine. Minor toning and and wear to edges of interior pages. Very good condition overall.
