Influential Swiss artist (1901–1966) best known for his instantly recognizable sculptural portrayals of the human form. Rare ALS in French, four pages on two adjoining sheets, 5.25 x 8.25, June 11, 1965. Letter to filmmaker Warren Forma, best known for his 'Artists at Work' documentary film series. In part (translated): "Please pardon me not having written the promised letter earlier. I had too much to do and time has passed much too quickly. I hope that you have received my telegram sent yesterday. During the whole month I must work doing sculptures that I will show in London and I have to be alone at home for doing that. July 2, I am going to London and after the 15th I have to leave as soon as possible for Italy and Switzerland. So I will not be in Paris for the whole month of July. But, there is something else I have to tell you. A great friend of mine has started a film on my work and on myself in 1963 and he has worked everywhere with me and it’s not finished and I cannot morally work with you on another film without mentioning this to him. I need to know what he thinks because I don’t want anything that could be disagreeable to him or harmful to him in his work. For the time being, he’s in the Orient and I don’t know exactly when he will be back, but I hope to see him next month. I hope you will understand me and that you agree with me that this is the only way to act from my part. I am very touched by the interest that you take in my work and to have thought about me and I hope in any way to meet you very soon. Please excuse me not having written earlier." In fine condition. A wonderful letter by the great modern artist, referencing his forthcoming exhibition at the Tate Gallery, which ran from July 17th–August 30th and was known as 'Alberto Giacometti: Sculpture, Paintings, Drawings, 1913–1965.'
